Apple recently arrived from Florida and right from the start she was engaging with people, wagging her tail and wanting to explore her new surroundings. She gets along well with other greyhounds and will soon be meeting other breeds of dogs as she learns more about pet life.

Casper is a beautiful light fawn boy who’s gentle, affectionate and inquisitive. He is a recent arrival from West Virginia and was quite camera shy except when he came out of his bath. He didn’t mind posing at all when he was wrapped up comfy in his towel. He’s a terrific boy and will make someone a loving friend and companion.

Digger is a sweet, gentle tail wagger who has just arrived from Florida with a broken leg. He is very curious and quite the leaner. He is living with 4 resident greys in his foster home and seems very comfortable with their company. Fawrist is a striking white and blue brindle 2 year old who recently arrived from Florida. He has a lovely, engaging personality and is eager to learn all the new experiences of pet life. He has amazingly soulful brown eyes and that belie his age. Fawrist (pronounced forest) is definitely a keeper.

Holdem is a handsome boy with a shiny black coat that glistens in the light. He has an extra long tail so that he can continuously wag it whenever he is awake. He loves playing with his stuffy toys. He’ll follow you anywhere often nuzzling you for affection. He adores the resident greyhound boy often trying to share his bed. There is not a mean bone in his body. He is a super guy and will make someone very happy in his forever home.

Jessica is a stunning red fawn with big brown eyes. She’s recently arrived from West Virginia and is outgoing and friendly. Jessica is a larger than average female, in excellent shape and with a terrific personality. She hasn’t been tested with cats and small dogs yet so check back soon for updates.

4 year old Louie is a stunning dark brindle with a big, friendly personality. His tail is ever wagging and he’s eager to meet & greet everybody that crosses his path. Rather than standing quietly by your side, Louie would much rather have his paws on your shoulders, looking you in the eye and giving kisses.

Lulu

Lulu is sleek and gorgeous, a black beauty for sure. She loves people and comes running to get pet by every visitor who enters her foster home. She desperately wants to please and is a quick learner. Loud noises and quick moves can frighten her and would thrive in structured quiet environment . She is cat safe but is timid of other dogs until she has a chance to get to know them. At present Lulu is fostering with two other greyhounds and a cat and gets along with them all. She even gets along fine with a visiting, vivacious, three year old boxer. Lulu will follow her person around the house but likes nothing better than to snuggle up and take a nap at your feet. She is a real sweetheart and will bond closely with her new family.

Maxi

Maxi is 8 years young and is the most calm, gentle lady around. Maxi was a “brood mama” and has had 27 puppies. She’s a lovely brindle girl who is exceptionally deserving of a comfy bed and loving family. Brood moms are special girls. They give lots of love!

Mickey

5 year old Mickey was returned at the same time as his house-mate Minnie (see below).
At first, Mickey is shy and insecure but as he develops confidence in new situations he becomes a bit more outgoing and affectionate. Mickey walks well on the leash, but like Minnie, he too prefers the privacy a fenced yard allows for bathroom duties. Mickey is a greyhound we consider to be “high prey drive”. Not only isn’t he compatible with cats but he can’t be trusted in the company of small dogs either. We hope to be able to place Mickey & Minnie in the same home with someone who has love & patience to give them the time they need to adapt to their new surroundings so their loving personalities can shine.

Minnie

Minnie is a sweet 3 yr old brindle who is very timid in new situations and around men until she gets to know and trust them. Minnie was in a home for a year but through no fault of her own, she (and Mickey. See above.) was returned to us. She doesn’t have the confidence to be an only dog but thrives in the company of other greyhounds. Minnie walks well in her leash/harness combination but she prefers to “do her business” while in a fenced yard. It would be wonderful if Minnie & Mickey could be re-homed together but we will separate them if the right new homes come along.

Nacho - ADOPTED!

Nacho a striking brindle male is a recent arrival from West Virginia. He recently turned 2 and is making strides learning how to be the perfect pet, he also walks well on a leash. He is currently in a home with 2 other greyhounds and enjoys the company of other breeds. He is a laughable, friendly guy that enjoys playing with his toys. Nacho is perky in the AM and tries his best to help you get your day started and not be late for work.

Nawtical

Nawtical “Nawty” is anything but. He’s a gentle, affectionate guy who broke his leg during a race in Florida. He had surgery in September to repair his leg and is doing remarkably well healing and learning the ropes of pet life. We haven’t tested him yet to determine if he’ll be a candidate for life with cats, but in another couple of weeks, when his leg is a bit more stable, we’ll check him out. This super boy is excellent on the leash and travels beautifully while riding in the car. He’s living in foster home with 3 active children and taking it all in stride. We’re looking forward to find the perfect home for Nawtical in another few weeks.

Beautiful, light brindle boy Sand is 22 months old. Unlike most young greyhounds, he isn’t silly and full of energy but is smartly reserved. He recently arrived from West Virginia and has shown to be a gentle, sweet boy who isn’t the bravest guy but wants to trust and be loved. Sand is a diamond in the rough who will grow and thrive with any lucky family to adopt him. Having other dogs would be a benefit as, from Sand’s point of view, there is strength in numbers.

Soon to be 3 year old Sarah is as sweet as pie. She’s curious, friendly and loves to carry stuffed animals around as her companions. She is recovering from surgery to repair her leg which happened during a race but in another 4-6 weeks, little Miss Sarah should be right as rain and ready for her forever home.

Sassy (with white on her nose) & Tempo are 2 very bonded female littermates who decided early on that chasing a “bunny” around a track wasn’t their cup of tea. They are brand new to foster care but we already know that these 2 girls belong together in a home. Sassy is initially leery of people and is more confident when in the company of Tempo. She definitely wants affection, she just isn’t sure what it’s all about and has been known to give a few gentle kisses. Tempo is definitely the more outgoing of the 2 but interestingly, when Sassy is out of site, Tempo let’s you know she wants her sister back. These 2 darling lovelies will thrive in a quiet, nurturing environment.

Shaula - ADOPTED!

Shaula aka Squirt came from Ebro Florida. Just over a year ago, her trainer, Ron Williams, tried to kill her. He successfully starved to death 32 of her kennel mates. There were only 5 survivors and she was one. She wouldn't give up and even though she was close to death, she never lost her joie de vivre, her love of life. She was held in Florida the past year as State’s evidence during Williams trial and has blossomed and thrived. Though the scars from the duct tape Williams wrapped tightly around her neck are still there, Squirt doesn’t have any emotional scars. She’s happy and fun loving. She’s a little pistol and in only 2 short weeks in foster care, has already taken to dog beds like a champ and prefers to be upside down with all 4 legs in the air having a good snooze. This little miracle will keep her lucky forever family laughing for sure. And we will never forget those in the kennel that weren’t as lucky to have a 2nd chance to run.

Slider is a handsome 4 year old who gets along well with the cats and dogs in his foster home. He walks well on lead, mastered the staircase on his second day and wants to please very much. Slider is taking his time to come out of his shell, he’s a little bit of a nervous guy and needs some confidence. He would do well with another dog and in a home where he has companionship for most of the day. With lots of patience and love he will make a devoted pet.

2 year Taco is a big boy who’s inquisitive and friendly. He’s only been in foster care a short time, but has already learned what squeaky toys are all about so there’s little quiet time in the foster home. This “pup” is gently friendly and we’re looking forward to watching him learn all about the good things pet life has to offer.
