“Aunt Chris, when all the Greyhounds have been adopted, can we have a party?”

January, 2001 by GRR’s youngest volunteer, 5 year old, Madison Rieger.

Greyhound Rescue & Rehabilitation (GRR) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit adoption/placement organization comprised of volunteers, dedicated to raising public awareness about the ex-racing Greyhound; their gentle & loving nature, wonderful disposition and suitability as pets and companions. Our geographic focus is Westchester, Putnam, Duchess, Rockland, Orange and Ulster Counties, NY and Fairfield County and Litchfield County, CT. GRR is committed to rescuing Greyhounds and with the help of foster families, acclimating the dogs to a home environment and preparing them for adoption. We find suitable and loving homes where the Greyhounds will be members of the family, and provide our adopting families with support and assistance as needed, as well as a network of other local Greyhound owners.

We are happy to help locate adoption groups in other parts of the country for anyone interested in adopting.

GRR has been active since May 2000, but in that short time has successfully placed nearly 2000 wonderful Greyhounds in their forever homes. With your help, Greyhound Rescue & Rehab can place dozens more. Every day, in all parts of the country, racing greyhounds are being retired due to injury, illness or just for being too slow, often by a split second. GRR helps as often as we can, and to the extent of our limited resources. If you can’t adopt, you can foster a Greyhound in your home; if you can’t foster, you can donate funds to pay for medical care; if you can’t donate funds, donate your time at GRR events and sponsored programs; if you can’t donate your time, tell a friend who can… You see, there is something you can do. YOU can make a difference.
